Class Descriptions

We need your help! What classes do you want? Are there other quilting things - mysteries, block of the month -- that you would enjoy? Let us know.

Strip Club

with Carol Richardson Cost varies, depending on the size of the quilt and number of strips. Cost includes cut strips so you can start piecing.

Good class for beginners! Each month make a new easy quilt from pre-cut strips of fabric. Two to four options available.

Williamsburg: Every second Monday from 10am to 4pm

Gloucester: Every second Saturday from 10am to 4pm

Beginning Class

with Carol Richardson started April 2nd

Make a sampler from an Eleanor Burns book! Easy, fun and lots of tips and techniques.

HQ16

with Carol Edwards (Cost: $100, no supplies needed) starting May 6th and May 17th Learn to use the Handi Quilter 16 and begin long-arm quilting your own quilts. After successfully completing the class, students may rent the machine (in the store) to finish their quilts.

Pro Stitcher with HQ 16

starting June 3rd Williamsburg only Use the Pro Stitcher (aka computer) to get beautiful even quilting designs! MUST HAVE COMPLETED HQ 16 first.

T-Shirt Class

with Meg Glenn-Albiez (Cost: $70 plus book plus supplies) starting May 13th

Preserve the memories associated with all those T-shirts that you have collected! T-shirts can be put together with or without sashing. Eash quilt is unique and reflects the ideas of the quilt maker. A t-shirt quilt makes a great graduation present. Meg uses methods that allow the personality of each t-shirt to show through. Not hard. Four meetings depending on the complexity of the t-shirt quilts.

Non-template Applique

with Meg Glenn-Albiez (Cost: $30, indludes kit) on April 17th

Very easy applique method! Learn smooth inner & outer curves. Learn to make pointy points. We will do a simple block (watermelon) which can be used as a hot pad, small pillow or in a larger quilt.

Machine Quilting (not HQ16)

with Mary Elizabeth Carter (Cost: $65 plus supplies) starting April 17th Hands-on class to learn all about machine quilting, including tools to make the process easier. You will learn stitch-in-the-ditch, free motion quilting, and stitching stenciled designs. Learn to bind your quilt with mitered corners. Three class sessions.

Ruth Mc Dowell's Technique

with Meg Glenn-Albiez (Cost: $55 plus book plus supplies) starting May 7th Learn to piece complex objects. Ruth Mc Dowell pieces beautiful landscapes and has developed a techinque that any quilter can use. You will take a flower or a vegetable from one of Ruth's books and learn her method of pieceing. Three sessions.
